Dr. Kin Yip Louie came to know the Lord while studying at Queen’s University in Canada. He later pursued a Ph.D. in Economics at Princeton University, where he engaged in campus ministry, evangelizing students from Hong Kong and mainland China. During graduate studies, he joined summer missions with New York’s Herald Urban Mission Center, where he discerned a call to full-time ministry and entered into theological training at Westminster Theological Seminary. He was ordained by First Baptist Church of Flushing. He also served as consulting pastor at New York Christian Mission Church and later at St. Mark’s Church of United Brethren In Christ in Hong Kong. He is now a voluntary pastor at City One Baptist Church, and a board member of the Society for Truth and Light and the World Reformed Fellowship.
Dr. Louie first joined China Graduate School of Theology in 2001. In 2003, he undertook further studies in the UK and returned after three years to resume his academic post. His early training in economics gave him a solid foundation in the social sciences. His research centers on faith and culture, exploring how believers throughout history have engaged with societal ideologies, how they transforms secular thinking in the process, and how they pursue justice and mercy amid the tension between ideals and reality. In response to the recent migration wave, Dr. Louie was appointed in June 2025 as the inaugural Chief Executive Officer of CGST Toronto, bringing his ministry experience in North America and Hong Kong to guide its development.
His publications include:
- The Beauty of the Triune God: The Theological Aesthetics of Jonathan Edwards
- The Search for Christendom: History of the Medieval Church
- Learning Theology Through Movies (co-authored)
- A Call to Political Engagement (co-authored)
